Supermoon

Hi,guys, have you ever known about supermoon? Let's check this

In astrology, a supermoon is a full or new moon that coincides with a close approach by the Moon to the Earth. The Moon's distance varies each month between approximately 354,000 km (220,000 mi) and 410,000 km (254,000 mi).t

Definition
The term supermoon was coined by astrologer Richard Nolle in 1979, defined as
...a new or full moon which occurs with the Moon at or near (within 90% of) its closest approach to Earth in a given orbit (perigee). In short, Earth, Moon and Sun are all in a line, with Moon in its nearest approach to Earth.
The term supermoon is not widely accepted or used within the astronomy or scientific community, who prefer the term perigee

Effect of Tides
The combined effect of the Sun and Moon on Earth's oceans, the tide, is greatest when the Moon is new or full. Full Moons during lunar perigees (such as in the case of supermoons) exert an even stronger tidal force, resulting in more extreme high and low tides, but even at their most powerful this force is still considerably weak.

Link to natural disasters
Speculations of a link between the occurrence of supermoons and natural disasters such as earthquakes and tsunami are extremely tenuous. Arguments have been made that natural disasters coinciding with years in which supermoons occurred were influenced by the Moon's increased gravitational strength, though because of the monthly alternation between lunar apogee and perigee such an argument cannot be supported unless the disaster in question falls on the actual date of the supermoon.
It has been argued that the Indian Ocean tsunami an earthquake on December 26, 2004, was influenced by a supermoon which occurred 2 weeks later on January 10, 2005. However two weeks before a supermoon the Moon is at the opposite point in its orbit: its apogee (greatest distance). Thus a supermoon effect is impossible.
Most recently, astrologers argued that the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan on March 11, 2011, was influenced by the March 19 supermoon, the closest supermoon since 1992. The problem with this claim is that on March 11 the Moon was actually closer to apogee than perigee, at approximately 400,000 km (240,000 mi) from the Earth, which is further than the average distance between the Moon and the Earth throughout the Moon's orbital cycle.
While some studies have reported a weak correlation between shallow, very low intensity earthquakes and lunar activity, there is no empirical evidence of any correlation with major earthquakes.

This is
Dates of supermoons between 1950 and 2050
There are approximately 4-6 supermoons annually. The following is a list of past and predicted extreme supermoons.

SO IS IT STILL NECESSARY TO LEARN ENGLISH?

Jin Lee has studied English for a long time. Read the story and find out:
How does he feel about leaning English?

I am a fourth-year student at a good university in Korea. I will graduate in four months and take a job with a company in a small town near Seoul. I have spent almost 10 years learning English. And let me tell you, it has been a waste of time.
To begin with, I will probably never use English in my work. My job will be with a taxi company. Everyone speaks Korean. The owner of the company is Korean and all of the employees are Korean, too. The taxi drivers themselves do not need to speak English because there are very few foreign visitors in our small town.
I don’t need English in my free time, either. If I want to read about what is happening in foreign countries, I can read Korean newspapers and magazines. I can learn all about other countries by reading my native language, not English.
And of course all the television stations carry international stories, so I don’t have to watch the news in English I order to understand what is happening all over the world.
I think of many hours, days, weeks, even years that I spent in school and at home studying English. Just think of what else I could have studied instead of English. I could have studied more history, so that I could understand my country better. Or I could have read more literature, to help me understand the great writers of my country.
Instead, I spent so much time studying English. And for what reason? So I could pass examinations? What a terrible waste of time. I really can’t understand why people need to study English for so many years.

Taken from: British Five international module

Which opinions do you agree with?

-         English is the important international language. We should all study it until we are good at it, even if it takes several years.
-         If you need English for work or travel, you should learn it. But not everybody needs to learn it – for a lot of people, it is just a waste of time and energy.
-         You may think you don’t need English now, but who knows? You might need it in the future. So, it’s better to be prepared.
-         I think learning a foreign language is very important. But it doesn’t have to be English. Other languages are important, too, especially the languages of neighboring countries.
-         We should study English but not for so long. The people who really need it can continue to study it if they want.

school should provide some choices for art educations

in my case, honestly, I'm not really good in art education in all programs but music. I'm into guitar and songs but generally, I don't have good voice, I'm not really good on playing guitar, I definitely don"t dance either paint or draw. so school should provide some choices so that each student can choose to which program they'll belong to. as an impact, students can get better marks cause they'll learn and have test in program they love and they're good in. but however personally, I WON'T GET BETTER MARKS IN ART EDUCATION EVEN IF SCHOOL GIVE ME CHOICES CAUSE I'M NOT GOOD AT ART, I'M NOT TALENTED ON IT, NOT AT ALL

so that's my personal opinion, dan INI HUNNA BUKAN DEYOWS YA PUHLEASE GAUSAH NGAKU NGAKU LO!!

CAN WE JUST CHOOSE TO LEARN ART EDUCATION THAT WE LIKE?

STATE YOUR OPINION, GUYS!!!!!
Hi guys, in this page, I want you to share your opinion about a case that may you also experience it. Somehow, it’s kinda tricky facing school subjects that may not suitable with our own interest ^_^ Yeah, you probably once experienced it… hmm, and honestly, I did ^_^
The writing below may represent one of our experiences. Please, check it out and state your opinion freely… It’ll be good if you have it in English ^_^

CAN WE JUST CHOOSE TO LEARN ART EDUCATION THAT WE LIKE?

This morning, my five years old sister came home crying. She said that every Monday she does not want to go to school. When I asked her why, she said that because she could not dance. She just does not want to join her traditional dance class. She said that the class is so frustrating because she cannot move her hand as gently as the others, so that the teacher always comes to her to correct her movements. And, she does not want to be the focus of her class because of it.
She is so frustrating for me. I have tried to persuade her and promised her a new dancing costume if she is willing to attend her class next Monday. However, she even cried very aloud. I’m giving up now. I hope that the school can have a fairer wisdom by giving choices for art education. My little sister is really good in music but she is really bad in dancing. Thus, why they don’t just ask the students to choose the art education they like.

Which opinions do you agree with? (or do you have any other opinion?)
-         School should provide some choices for art educations for their students because not all of their students like or are good in a certain kind of art education
-         Students have to learn any kind of art, whether they like or not because they have to be able to be good on it
-         It is impossible for the school to provide some teachers for art educations except the parents are willing to pay more
-         It is better for just giving all of the kinds of art education in general so that all of the students can know different kinds of art.
Parents should know their children’s talent in advance so that they can choose the best school, which facilitate their children’s talent.
